印度8月通胀率升至9.78%（双语）
India's inflation accelerated to 9.78% in August from the previous month's provisional reading of 9.22%, the government said Wednesday.

The wholesale price index-based inflation rate, released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is a tad above the median 9.70% forecast in a poll of 16 economists.

The WPI, used as a measure of inflation, rose 0.6% to 154.9 in August from a provisional 154.0 in July.

The index, which measures producer prices, is used as a proxy for inflation as the government reports wholesale price data more quickly and comprehensively than consumer price data.

The government raised the inflation rate for June to 9.51% from a provisional 9.44% rise reported earlier.
